Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool) position in Normal, IL, requiring Epic EMR experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Float pool position within a hospital-based Clinical Resource Unit (CRU), floating to inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab
• May also float to other system facilities including Carle Health Methodist Hospital, Young Minds, Carle Health Pekin Hospital, and Carle Health Proctor Hospital
• Patient population includes acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients with diagnoses such as CAD, angina, MI, dysrhythmias, CHF, stroke, cancer, cellulitis, and post-surgical cases
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• Weekend shifts on a rotating basis
• Holiday shifts on a rotating basis
• Epic EMR used; experience required

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; temporary license accepted
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• College diploma in nursing or higher required
• Experience with IV venipuncture, blood administration, medication administration, and post-operative care required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Provides direct nursing care across diverse inpatient units, managing care plans, assessments, nursing diagnoses, and patient education for varied patient populations
• Responsibilities include medication administration, IV venipuncture, blood administration, lab monitoring, pain management, procedure preparation, and post-operative care for complex surgical patients
• Delegates patient care tasks to healthcare technicians (HCTs) and validates completion throughout the shift
• Documents all care accurately in Epic EMR, including assessments, care plans, and patient education
• Conducts bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintains updated patient communication boards
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and deliver high-quality patient care
• Travelers who have been on assignment at any Carle Health location for 1 continuous year must take a 6-month break in service before returning
• RTO not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
