Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in Carlsbad, NM, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and the ability to float to ER and Med-Surg departments.
Details
- Day shift position, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Work setting is an acute care hospital ICU with 12 beds
- Patient ratio is 1:2–3
- Scope of care includes total ICU patient care: ventilator management, titratable drips, and hygiene care
- Floating to the Emergency Room and Med-Surg departments is required
- When floating to the ER, nurses assist with tasks such as answering call lights, passing medications, transporting patients, starting IVs, and drawing blood rather than taking a full patient assignment
- When floating to Med-Surg, nurses may take a full assignment of up to 6 patients or serve in an aide capacity covering up to 12 patients
- A float log rotation system is maintained in the ICU; house supervisors may override the rotation based on departmental needs
- EMR system is MedHost
- No on-call required
- Holiday coverage is required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or a Compact RN license (active, not pending) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the start date
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- ER and Med-Surg experience required due to float requirements
- TNCC preferred
- Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene preferred
- Valid U.S. driver's license required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Any scrub color is acceptable
- RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
- Candidates who have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
- Any blocked scheduling requests should be disclosed upfront during the consideration process
