Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU travel position in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and the ability to float to ER and Med-Surg departments.
Details
- 13-week contract at a hospital-based ICU, with floating required to the ER and Med-Surg departments
- 12-bed ICU unit with a patient ratio of 1:2–3
- Night shift schedule: 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM
- Patient care includes ventilator management, titratable drips, and hygiene care
- EMR: MedHost
- No on-call required
- Holiday coverage is required
- Any scrub color is accepted
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- ER and Med-Surg experience required
- TNCC preferred
- Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico; the process can take several weeks
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include total ICU patient care: ventilator management, titratable drips, and hygiene care
- When floating to the ER, nurses assist with call lights, medication passing, patient transport, IV starts, and blood draws rather than taking a full patient assignment
- When floating to Med-Surg, nurses take a full patient assignment of up to 6 patients or may act as an aide for up to 12 patients
- Float rotation is maintained via a float log; the house supervisor or director may override the rotation based on departmental need and nurse experience
- RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
- Candidates who have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
- First-time travelers are not mentioned as eligible; 2+ years of ICU experience is required
