Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Charlotte, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and the ability to float across multiple regional facilities.

Details

• Work in a 43-bed Emergency Department at a 337-licensed-bed hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations (no trauma designation, non-teaching)
• Patient population spans pediatric to geriatric with general ED presentations including stroke, acute MI, respiratory illness, behavioral health, minor and major trauma stabilization, and uncontrolled diabetes
• 8 Clinical Decision beds designated for Behavioral Health (unlocked) and 4 additional beds used for admits from freestanding ED or patient holding
• Average daily census of approximately 145 patients with a 25–30% admission rate
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4 based on acuity
• 12-hour day shifts, 0700–1900
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Floating required across Region 2 facilities, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any freestanding ED within the region, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital)
• EMR: Epic; IV Pump: Alaris; Med Dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips; additional equipment includes Rover Communication, Panda Infant Warmer, and LUCAS
• No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
• TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• General ED skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drip management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation
• Must provide at least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Must be willing to float to all Region 2 and Central Division facilities as needed

• Department support includes HCTs/Unit Secretaries (1:8–10 ratio), paramedics, a free-floating charge nurse, patient safety attendants, a dedicated ED pharmacist (7a–11p), social worker, respiratory therapy (24/7), ED physicians and APPs, a geriatric APP, hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist (24/7)
• Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Required scrub color: Navy Blue
• Parking is free on-site
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
