Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with strong scrub and circulate skills and expertise in at least two of the following specialties: neuro spine, ortho spine, vascular, or robotics.
Details
- Hospital Operating Room setting with 17 rooms and approximately 45 cases
- Specialties in priority order: Neuro/Neuro Spine, Ortho/Ortho Spine, Vascular, Robotics, Urology, Podiatry, Oncology GYN, and a small volume of General, ENT, and Plastics
- 12-hour day shifts, 06:45–19:15, Monday–Friday on a rotating schedule
- Call requirement: approximately two 8-hour overnight shifts (11pm–7am) per six-week schedule, plus one 24-hour call shift on a Saturday or Sunday per eight-week schedule
- No float requirement
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred); also uses Pyxis
- 13-week contracts accepted, with potential for extension
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent, acute OR experience required; candidates who have been out of the acute OR setting for more than 6 months will not be considered
- Must be proficient in both scrubbing and circulating
- Strong experience in at least 2 of the following specialties required: neuro spine, ortho spine, vascular, or robotics
- Prior travel experience required
- Two professional manager/supervisor references from within the past 2 years required (pending at time of consideration is acceptable, but must be on file prior to start)
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided in ceil blue
- Orientation consists of a minimum of 36 hours (3 days), not including Epic training; weekly orientation schedule applies
- Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles); modules must also be completed annually
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday
- Previous permanent, PRN, or EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional must wait 12 months before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Candidates who have most recently held management roles will not be considered
- Travel pairs are welcome; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate
- An interview with the hiring manager is required prior to any offer being extended
