Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, with night shift availability and the ability to manage complex cardiac patients.
Details
- Hospital telemetry unit specializing in cardiac care
- Patient population includes cardiac arrhythmias, MI, ACS, uncontrolled diabetes, DKA, heart failure, post-heart catheterization, post-PPM, post-ICD, and cardiac drips
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 with an average daily census of 23
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
- 8 weekend shifts required for the duration of the contract
- Floating to other units is required
- Uses Epic (EMR), Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
- 13-week contract with the possibility of extension
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license (may be pending at time of consideration)
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Cardiac telemetry experience is required
- Proficiency in IV insertion, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Two supervisor/manager professional references from within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
Additional Information
- Step-down or IMC experience is preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- EKG testing is required prior to start
- Orientation is 3 days: day one consists of Epic training, followed by two days on the unit
- 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must be completed annually
- No charge nurses on the unit — strong teamwork is essential
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment (orientation); up to 7 days of RTO may be approved thereafter, provided it does not fall on a holiday
- Former permanent, PRN, or contract employees of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional must wait 12 months before being considered for a travel assignment
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a different rate
- Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
- Navy or white scrubs are required
