Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma Magnet Teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience and a valid WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Critical Care Float Pool position within a 500-bed Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma academic teaching hospital
  • Float assignment covering all critical care units within scope
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting via Epic (required, not just preferred)
  • Patient population includes critically ill patients requiring telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and conscious sedation
  • Preferred experience with ICP monitoring and PA lines

Requirements

  • Active WA RN license or compact RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 3 years of critical care (ICU) experience, with recent ICU experience within the last year
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Academic/teaching hospital experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; TNCC preferred
  • Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required (skills test administered)
  • Required clinical skills: mechanical ventilator management, IV insertion, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation
  • COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will not be considered; strong, demonstrated ICU experience is required
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
  • Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to consideration; no additional RTO will be granted after an offer is made, and RTO cannot be requested during orientation week
  • References must be from a direct supervisor — charge RN references are not accepted
  • Former UW Health staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Scrub color: any solid color accepted; light blue scrubs are provided on the unit
  • Onsite parking is available for a daily fee; an offsite parking option approximately 1 mile away is also available with weekday shuttle service (5am–10pm, Mon–Fri only)
