Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring Cerner and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital with 100-200 births per month
• Level II trauma facility setting
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every third weekend required
• Candidates may float to all competent units within the facility
• Cerner EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required at time of submittal
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• CPI certification required starting January 2026
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Level II trauma experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required, no exceptions
• Cerner charting system experience required, no exceptions
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in administration of blood/blood products, CVC/PICC line maintenance, and peripheral IV starts
• Experience with high-risk medications including anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and oxytocin
• Skilled in newborn assessment, cord care, discharge teaching, and car seat education
• Experience with pain management including opioids and pain assessment
• Knowledge of baby-friendly protocols, couplet care, and isolation precautions
• Phlebotomy and vaccine administration skills required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including assisting with vaginal deliveries and circulating/scrubbing for C-sections
• Perform antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures including fetal monitoring and NST/OCT testing
• Support high-risk antepartum patients and manage conditions such as pregnancy-induced hypertension and postpartum hemorrhage
• Administer specialized medications including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and terbutaline
• Teach circumcision care, phototherapy management, and thermoregulation for large-for-gestational-age and low birth weight infants
• Provide breastfeeding and lactation support to new parents
• Unit scrub color is navy blue
• Non-billable HealthStream training modules must be completed prior to start, averaging 8 hours
• Candidates are responsible for monitoring email and completing all assigned training modules by required deadlines
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous employees must have a break in service of at least 1 year to be eligible for rehire
