Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with a minimum of 1 year of outpatient OT experience for a 13-week assignment at an outpatient therapy clinic in Ellsworth, ME serving a rural community.

Details

  • Outpatient occupational therapy clinic setting located near a local hospital
  • Day shift schedule, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; manager is open to schedule preferences including 4x10-hour shifts
  • 40 hours per week; flexible scheduling scenarios may be considered
  • Average caseload of 8-10 patients per day
  • Patient population includes mostly adults and geriatrics, as well as school-aged children (non-pediatric developmental diagnoses)
  • Common diagnoses include ADL and self-care deficits, upper extremity conditions (shoulder, arm, hand), post-orthopedic, work injuries, and neurological issues; general OT needs reflecting a rural community
  • No weekend rotation or on-call requirements
  • Facility is closed on major holidays; coverage for approximately 50% of minor holidays may be expected
  • Optional float to inpatient OT at the nearby hospital if clinic volume is low — not a requirement
  • EMR: Cerner PowerChart

Requirements

  • Active Maine OT license or compact license required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 year of outpatient OT experience required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Experience with ADL training, self-care, splinting, patient education, therapeutic exercise, and manual therapy
  • Experience working with adult, geriatric, and school-aged (non-developmental) patient populations
  • Full SSN required for consideration
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • 2 references within the past year required, with at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse (peer references not accepted)
  • Copies of all certifications required for consideration
  • Flu vaccination required for clearance
  • License required if applicable

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME (489 State St., Bangor, ME 04401) to be eligible; travelers living 100+ miles north are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Candidates who have previously worked at any Northern Light Health hospital in a permanent capacity are not eligible
  • Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) followed by approximately 1 to 1.5 weeks of unit orientation, with a gradual increase in patient load alongside a staff partner
  • Supportive team includes 4 PTs, 2 PTAs, 1 additional OT, 1 SLP, 2 PSRs, at least one assistant supervisor on-site, and a manager available by phone
  • All RTO requests must be submitted through the manager
  • Dress code: solid color scrubs or business casual attire
  • Free parking available on-site
