Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with a minimum of 2 years of experience for a fast-paced academic medical center cardiology stress unit.

Details

  • Cardiology - Stress unit at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center with 885 licensed beds and a designated Chest Pain and Stroke Center
  • Patient population includes heart failure, advanced cardiac diagnostics, chemotherapy evaluations, and renal transplant evaluations
  • Daily volume includes approximately 110 TTEs across all areas, 14 stress/stress echo/dobutamine stress echo/nuclear cardiology/tilt studies, and 5–6 TEEs
  • 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM with one hour for lunch
  • 40 hours per week standard schedule
  • One weekend rotation per month required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Echo Techs may float to satellite sites managed within the Wake Region

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer in the specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Required certifications for Cardiac Sonographers: BLS and RDCS (ARDMS), RCS, or ACS (Advanced Cardiac Sonographer through CCI)
  • Proficiency in 2D, Doppler, color flow, 3D, strain, and contrast echo studies
  • Stress echo skills and experience with interventional procedures preferred
  • IV management training preferred
  • ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Active license required if applicable
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
  • Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Perform TTE, TEE, stress echo, dobutamine stress echo, and related cardiac diagnostic studies
  • Charting via Epic (Encompass); department also uses Philips echo systems, GE echo systems, GE CASE stress lab, and Philips ISCV for echo reporting
  • Department is supported by a dedicated Cardiac Ultrasound Educator, Chief Sonographer, 19 echo techs (including satellites), 5 RNs, and 2 exercise physiologists
  • Orientation includes NEO followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Work environment is patient/family-focused, high quality, and fast-paced with a balance between portable and in-lab studies
  • Required to work either Thanksgiving or Christmas Day
  • Scrub uniform: Barney Purple tops, black pants or skirts; warm-up jackets in either matching purple or black
  • Free assigned parking provided on-site
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
