Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Unit position requiring cardiac and stepdown/PCU experience, including familiarity with chest tubes and drips.
Details
- Work in a mixed Cardiovascular floor within a hospital's newer tower, consisting of 24 beds — 12 Step-Down and 12 Med-Surg
- Patient population includes cardiovascular patients requiring cardiac rehab, pre/post procedures, and cardiac stabilizations
- Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac rhythms and rates, EKG interpretation, and managing chest tubes and IV drips
- Bedside monitors are located in each patient room
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or eNLC Compact) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Cardiac unit experience with stepdown/PCU experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Collaborate with cardiac rehab, education teams, and support discharge planning
- Administer medications, initiate and monitor IV infusions and blood products, and document patient responses to nursing interventions
- Delegate tasks to support staff and make referrals to appropriate personnel as needed
- Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may work a maximum of 26 weeks (including one extension) before requiring a 6-month separation period before their next contract
- Compliance with onboarding requirements (drug screening, background checks, and medical requirements) must begin immediately upon offer acceptance — start dates will not be adjusted for non-compliant candidates

Pros
Very nice hospital, I like the fact that I never have to put in orders or sign any consent form. The doctors do all this. There is a lot of hours. On the clinical side, there is a lot to learn. On my unit I got to see so many surgical cases that I never seen in my entire career only because I was on a surgical unit.
Cons
It all depends on the team you are working with. They either break you or make you.
