Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position in Charlotte, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and critical care drip management skills.
Details
- Work in a 30-bed Medical ICU within a 337-bed hospital designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Patient population includes Sepsis, ARDS, GI Bleeds, DKA, Cardiac Arrest, Withdrawal, Renal Failure, and other general medical ICU diagnoses (no Cardiac Surgical patients)
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:1–2 on all shifts
- 12-hour night shifts (1900–0700), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Floating is required within Region 2 (Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division including CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates must be willing to float to all listed facilities
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; patient monitors: Philips
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Critical care drip management experience required, including insulin, vasopressors, and sedation
- Experience with management of invasive lines (arterial lines, CVP) required
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
- Experience with chest tubes, ventilator management, blood product administration, and wound care required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- Orientation includes a facility-level (NEO) onboarding and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Unit support staff include CNAs, a Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, dedicated Pharmacist, two Case Managers, RT (24/7), Phlebotomy (24/7), IV/VAT Team (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and an Intensivist (on-site until midnight, then virtual/on-call)
- Nurses are responsible for reading and posting telemetry rhythm strips each shift, as there is no remote telemetry monitoring
- Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
- Parking is free
- Unit culture is described as teamwork- and family-oriented
