Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Rehabilitation Med/Surg position in Windsor, VT, requiring prior travel experience and Charge RN background.

Details

• Inpatient Rehabilitation Med/Surg unit within a small community hospital setting
• Cares for patients recovering from surgery, serious illness, or injury with a focus on restoring function and independence through physical, occupational, and speech therapies
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 with an average daily census of 22 patients
• May float between Acute Rehab and Med/Surg units, as well as other units within scope of practice
• 12-hour night shifts on a 36-hour weekly schedule
• Every other weekend required; holiday coverage required as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR
• On-call requirements to be determined

Requirements

• Active RN license in Vermont or a valid Compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg and Rehabilitation nursing experience required
• Charge RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience of at least 3 months required
• BSN strongly preferred
• Must be willing to float to other units as needed within scope of practice
• Personal vehicle required — the facility is located in a small community without public transportation
• A current Med/Surg skills checklist (within the past year) required for consideration
• 1 supervisory signed reference from within the past 2 years of employment required for consideration

Additional Information

• Coordinates total nursing care for patients and participates in patient and family education
• May be asked to serve as a backup Charge Nurse
• Provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient care team members to maintain professional nursing practice standards
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront — no more than 5 days of RTO will be approved, and no scheduling requests will be considered after an offer is extended
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• Block scheduling will not be considered for this role
• This position cannot be held concurrently with another permanent or travel nursing assignment
• After 3 call-offs, a traveler's contract may be subject to termination; each call-off must be reported to the unit supervisor at least 1.5 hours in advance
