Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a General Surgery Med/Surg night shift position in St. Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient Med/Surg experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- General Surgery unit within a hospital setting (30-bed unit)
- Patient population includes surgical cases: GI, GU, Plastics, and Overflow Ortho
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Patient ratios are 1:6–7 on nights (ratios are not guaranteed)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps, wound vacs, SCD machines, PCA pumps, low air loss mattresses, and remote telemetry monitors
- EMR: Epic
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri or a Compact state license eligible for Missouri endorsement
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
- BLS certification from AHA required
- ACLS from AHA and TNCC preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
- No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift; frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.; occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for post-surgical and medically complex patients
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
- The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
- Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidate must be available the full orientation week
- Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs (Mercy M Wear) are required; no other attire is acceptable
- Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up before the end of the assignment
- Only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be subject to a reduced bill rate
