Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring post-operative open heart care experience and cardiac monitoring proficiency.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating to all units within skill level is required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license, verified active via Nursys
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Post-operative open heart care experience required
• Chest tube and other drain management experience required
• Experience with pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting rhythm strips and recognizing and responding to cardiac rhythm changes required
• Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities required
• Experience assisting with chest tube removal, removal of pericardial pacing wires, and management of temporary pacers (including pericardial and transcutaneous devices) required
• Experience with non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems required
• Critical care experience highly preferred
• Current skills checklist (within the past year), pertinent to PCU specialty, required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria
• Assists in directing and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries
• RTO requests are limited to no more than 5 days for the duration of the contract
• Candidates seeking more than 50% of holidays off may experience a longer review timeline
