Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Surgical Acute (Med/Surg) night shift position in Hawaii, requiring at least 2 years of pre/postoperative nursing experience and an active HI RN license.
Details
- 34-bed adult surgical acute unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes adults recovering from surgical procedures such as abdominal surgeries (lap chole/appy), mastectomies, thyroidectomies, and cases involving chest tubes and drains
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Equipment includes vital signs machines, IV and PCA pumps, Pyxis, and WOWs for EMR charting
- Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Weekend availability required
- No on-call requirement
- Floating to other units may be required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required by start of assignment; candidates without one must apply upon acceptance of offer
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN with proficiency in pre/postoperative surgical nursing care
- Strong experience with abdominal surgeries, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, chest tubes, and surgical drains
- Must be flexible with scheduling and weekend shifts
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include pre/postoperative surgical nursing care consistent with RPN III-level duties and skills
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48-72 hours prior to the start of the assignment; this appointment takes place at the facility's Employee Health office and attendance is mandatory
- Travelers should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start date in order to attend the Employee Health appointment on Friday morning
- Standard nursing uniforms required
