Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of echocardiography experience and current BLS plus one advanced cardiac sonography certification (RCS, RDCS, or ACS).
Details
- 50-bed community hospital with a 22-bed ED, working in the Cardiology - Stress unit
- Performs advanced cardiac diagnostics including TTE, TEE, Stress Echo, and Dobutamine Stress Echo studies
- Cares for cardiac patients including chemotherapy and transplant evaluations
- 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:45 PM with a one-hour lunch, 40 hours per week
- Uses EPIC EMR for charting and Philips ISCV for reporting
- Equipment includes Philips and GE echo machines and CASE stress systems
- May float to satellite sites managed within the Wake Region
- Weekend rotation and holiday coverage depend on unit needs
- No on-call or call-back requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- One of the following certifications required: RCS, RDCS, or ACS (Advanced Cardiac Sonographer through CCI)
- License required if applicable
- Proficient in TTE with complete color and doppler imaging
- Experience with Ultrasound Enhancement Agents (Definity/Optison)
- Skilled in advanced imaging per ASE/IAC standards, including LV Global Strain, 3D imaging, HOCM, and agitated saline contrast studies
- Stress echo and Dobutamine stress echo experience preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

- Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental training
- Department culture is patient and family-focused, fast-paced, and academic, balancing portable and in-lab studies
- Scrub requirements: purple tops (not eggplant), black pants or skirts, and purple or black warm-up jackets
- Free assigned parking provided
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
- Previous employees of AHSE facilities must be separated for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
