Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with a minimum of 2 years of experience performing advanced cardiac diagnostics including TTE, TEE, and stress echo studies in a fast-paced academic cardiology lab.
Details
- Work in a 50-bed community hospital cardiology stress unit within an academic lab environment
- Patient population includes cardiac diagnostics cases such as TTE, TEE, Stress Echo, Dobutamine Stress Echo, chemotherapy evaluations, and transplant evaluations
- Procedures include TTE with color and Doppler, ultrasound enhancement agents (UEA – Definity/Optison), LV Global Strain, 3D echo, HOCM, and agitated saline contrast studies
- Stress Echo and Dobutamine Stress Echo experience preferred
- Uses Philips and GE echo equipment, CASE stress system, and Philips ISCV for reporting
- Epic EMR
- 40-hour week on 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM with a one-hour lunch break
- Weekend and holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs
- May float to satellite sites within the Wake Region
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiac sonography
- Minimum 12 months of core work experience in cardiac sonography with most recent experience within the last year
- Current BLS required; one of the following certifications also required: RCS, RDCS, or ACS (Advanced Cardiac Sonographer through CCI)
- ACLS preferred
- Proficiency with TTE complete with color and Doppler and advanced imaging per ASE/IAC Echo guidelines
- Experience with ultrasound enhancement agents (UEA) such as Definity/Optison
- License required if applicable
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Must provide the last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

- Perform advanced cardiac diagnostic studies including TTE, TEE, Stress Echo, Dobutamine Stress Echo, chemotherapy evaluations, and transplant evaluations
- Supported by a dedicated Cardiac Ultrasound Educator and Chief Sonographer
- Orientation includes facility-level NEO and 2 days of departmental training
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- Scrub uniform: Barney Purple tops and black pants/skirts; warm-up jackets may be purple or black
- Parking is assigned and free of charge
