Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring advanced cardiac device experience, including LVAD/RVAD/Impella and PA catheter interpretation, working night shifts at a Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting with 672 staffed beds, designated as Magnet, a teaching facility, and Level III Trauma center
- Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) with a 1:2 patient ratio
- Patient population includes complex cardiac cases involving open heart recovery, mechanical circulatory support, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Specialized equipment in use includes PA catheters, LVAD/RVAD (HeartMate 2 & 3, CentriMag), Impella, IABP, ECMO, CRRT with PrismaFlex, ventilators, temporary pacemakers, Endotool glucose monitoring, and targeted temperature management
- Charting is done in Epic (Excellian); experience required
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within the ICU community, including CVICU, Med/Surg ICU, and Neuro ICU
- No on-call requirement
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active MN RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU or equivalent specialty experience required
- PA catheter interpretation and analysis required
- Experience with LVAD/RVAD and Impella required
- Experience with IABP required
- Open heart recovery direct from OR strongly preferred
- CRRT with PrismaFlex and ECMO experience preferred
- Epic/Excellian EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing critically ill cardiac patients with advanced hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical circulatory support, and post-operative open heart recovery
- Bedside procedures include management of trachs, PEGs, and temporary pacemakers
- Pre-start online modules are required to be completed before the first day of the assignment
- Candidates who previously worked at this facility as permanent staff or per diem must have been gone for at least 3 months from their last shift to be eligible
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- RTO requests should ideally not exceed 5 days for the duration of the contract
- Parking is available at a flat rate of $0.55/hour
