Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity CVICU position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.
Details
- High-acuity CVICU setting within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,266 staffed beds)
- Patient population includes acute heart failure, CHF exacerbation, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, complete heart block, pre-heart transplant, arrhythmias, and ventricular tachycardia
- Patient ratio: 1:2
- Procedures and equipment include ventilator management, arterial line management, pulmonary artery (PA) catheter monitoring, transvenous pacemakers (TVP), intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella devices, LVADs, vasoactive drips, central lines, dialysis, and Foley catheters
- Charting via Epic; Epic experience is required
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the service line may be required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Contract length: 16 weeks preferred; 13-week minimum also considered
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri, required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU ICU experience required
- Experience with ventilators, arterial lines, PA catheters, pacemakers, Impella, IABP, and LVADs required
- Neuro ICU background alone does not qualify; cardiac/CVICU-specific experience is required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to assignment
Additional Information
- This is a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
- Scrub color: Navy blue
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days (40 hours) during the contract, with no more than 2 requests; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Monthly parking passes are available at various lots ranging from approximately $63–$73/month; parking details will be provided upon placement
