Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting
  • Float position covering multiple ICUs including Trauma, Oncology, Cardiac/Heart and Vascular, Neurology, Medicine, and COVID units
  • When ICU census is low, floating to inpatient floors (Oncology, Neurology, Med/Surg, Medicine, Trauma, Heart and Vascular, and COVID) is required, and may occasionally include patient sitting responsibilities
  • ICU patient ratio is 2:1; inpatient floor ratio is no more than 1:3
  • Required skills include ventilator management, IV starts, telemetry, and conscious sedation
  • Preferred cardiac skills include Swan-Ganz/hemodynamic interpretation, IABP, Impella, ECMO, vasoactive drips, and CRRT
  • Triage, ICP monitoring, PA lines, and Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
  • Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45–19:15)
  • Every other weekend required, or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
  • Charting is performed in Epic; prior Epic experience is strongly preferred
  • Free parking available
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri, required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required, plus a minimum of 1 year of CV ICU experience
  • Specific CVICU experience is not required
  • Preferred certifications: CCRN, ONS, TNCC, CPI
  • CRRT experience beneficial
  • Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not eligible for this position
