Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position requiring a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and active ACLS and BLS certifications, with both diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures performed.

Details

  • Hospital-based Cath Lab unit performing both diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
  • Procedures include cardiac stent placement, PCI, left and right heart catheterizations, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, rotablator atherectomy, and Swan-Ganz monitoring
  • Preferred experience includes TAVR, Watchman procedure, ASD closures, valvuloplasty, angioplasty, carotid stenting, and endovascular interventions
  • Medication administration includes antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and reversal agents
  • EMR and unit systems include Epic, MAC Lab, CUPID, and Pyxis
  • Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts (7:30–18:00), with some early shifts starting at 06:30
  • One of the four weekly shifts is designated as a late shift (remaining until the last patient of the day is complete)
  • On-call requirement of 1 night per week
  • Weekend requirement of 1 weekend every other month
  • Floating required on an as-needed basis
  • Self-scheduling unit

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (may be pending at time of consideration)
  • Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience required
  • Proficiency in scrub and circulate procedures, sheath removal and monitoring, ACT interpretation, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with IV infusion pumps, starting and maintaining IVs, and topical hemostasis devices (e.g., D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch)
  • Two manager or supervisor professional references from within the past 12 months are highly preferred

Additional Information

  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Orientation is approximately 24 hours and is conducted weekly
  • Pre-start online modules are required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles) and must also be completed annually
  • Candidates who were previously employed by this health system (permanent, PRN, or EP staff) must have a 12-month gap before being eligible to work as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval
  • No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are welcome, but each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
  • Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate
