Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, including proficiency with IABP and Impella devices.
Details
- Acute care hospital CVICU (Cardiovascular ICU) setting
- 15-bed unit with an average daily census of 10 patients
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:1, up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients
- Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (including heart blocks), MI, pulmonary hypertension, advanced therapy workups (LVAD, heart transplants), mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and hypertensive urgency/emergency
- Specialized procedures include bedside central line and A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
- Specialized equipment includes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilator, cooling device, and CCO monitor
- Rotating day/night shifts, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00–07:30 / 07:00–19:30)
- 16-week contract
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within the specialty to ICU and lower-acuity units as needed
- No scheduled on-call shifts required
Requirements
- Active RN license for the state of Maryland (standard MD or compact license currently in hand)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and CPI
- NIHSS and CCRN certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- Hands-on experience with IABP and Impella devices required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered provided they have strong CVICU skills and experience, including IABP and Impella proficiency
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Any time-off requests must be disclosed at the time of initial consideration
- Provide care for a high-acuity cardiovascular patient population including those requiring mechanical circulatory support and advanced cardiac therapies
