Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position in Nebraska, requiring a NE or Compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience, working 12-hour night shifts.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 42-bed Med/Surg unit
• Patient population includes medical, surgical, and orthopedic cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6; a 1:6 ratio occurs at least once per week
• Nurse aides/patient care techs available with a 1:10–12 ratio
• Heparin drips are used; no other titratable drips
• Telemetry monitoring available on the floor with a centralized tele station
• Respiratory therapy is available 24 hours on the unit
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
• 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700)
• Weekends required as needed
• Holidays required as needed
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Floating may be required to PCU or Burn units
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS certification required; pending certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• BSN is not required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked; references must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of one week of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
• A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on the Friday of orientation; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass
• Navy blue scrubs required; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• RTO (time off) requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• 13-week contract (approximately 36 hours per week)
