Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Telemetry position in Boise, ID, requiring 2 years of experience and post-procedural cardiac experience, with day shift scheduling and floating responsibilities across two units.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on a Telemetry unit split across two floors (3rd and 7th), which pool staffing together
- 3rd Floor (20 beds) focuses on cardiac patients including post-op open heart, TAVRs, ablations, post-caths, pacemakers, and med tele; 7th Floor (35 beds) is general tele with CHF, sepsis, electrolyte imbalances, post-strokes, and post-procedural overflow
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- CNA support available: 3 CNAs on the 3rd floor and 5 CNAs on the 7th floor at typical ratios of 1:8
- Charge nurse present on each unit without a patient assignment unless necessary; Crisis and Resource nurse available in-house
- Remote telemetry techs located on the 3rd floor; RNs are expected to read and interpret tele strips twice per shift
- RT available on each floor managing high-flow, BiPAP, and CPAP; RNs may be asked to assist as needed
- RNs may be required to titrate Heparin and occasionally Insulin drips; facility will train on insulin if needed
- Common set-rate drips include cardiac GTT, amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, and dobutamine
- EMR: Epic
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Days: Saturday/Sunday)
- Travelers are first to float and may be floated to any MS, MS-Tele, or Tele unit within the hospital or to sister facilities in Meridian and Nampa
- Scheduling is made 6 weeks at a time; travelers are asked to stay flexible to fill gaps, with a maximum of 5 consecutive shifts; block scheduling is not available
- 13-week contract with 36 hours per week
Requirements
- Active ID or compact RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Post-procedural cardiac experience required (cath lab, ablations, open heart surgery)
- PCU and stepdown experience preferred
- Ability to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips required
- Epic EMR experience
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred but not required
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Travelers are expected to float between the 3rd and 7th floor telemetry units based on staffing needs
- Holiday coverage may be required, but travelers would not be expected to work every holiday
- 2-shift unit-specific orientation provided (one shift on 3rd floor, one shift on 7th floor)
- Any color scrubs are acceptable
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- This is a traveler-friendly facility where leadership treats travelers comparably to permanent staff, with a strong history of contract extensions
