Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position at a Critical Access Hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 3 years of MS/Tele experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Critical Access Hospital setting with a 30-bed MS/Tele unit (avg. daily census of 19)
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour nights (1830–0700)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating is required for all travelers — within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• No on-call responsibilities
• Patient population includes telemetry, cardiac, endocrine/metabolic, renal, neurological, orthopedic (total joint replacement), and respiratory cases
• Required cardiac monitoring procedures include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and use of Rapid Response Teams
• Required skills include IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, feeding tube care, and management of renal failure patients
• IV therapy skills required: accessing ports, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care/management, peripheral line care, and starting IVs
• Required medication skills include heparin protocols and titration of vasoactive drips
• Respiratory skills required: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen masks, portable oxygen, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management
• Additional required skills: CVA management, isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac
• Charting via Cerner
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Requirements

• Active Illinois (IL) RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years of MS/Tele and telemetry nursing experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler

• 13-week contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO requests should be discussed; up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO may be accommodated, with more requiring facility approval
• Travel pairs are not accepted
