Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract at an acute care Magnet facility in California, requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Occasional floating may be required to the nursery or baby transition nurse role, though this is not routine and only occurs when delivery volumes are high — responsibilities in that role include routine newborn care, vitals, head-to-toe assessments, skin-to-skin support, breastfeeding assistance, and routine labs
• NICU nurses will not be attending deliveries
• Weekend requirement: equivalent to every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling considered at manager's discretion
• Charting system: Epic (experience preferred)
• Free parking on-site
• Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 377 staffed beds
• Local candidates are accepted

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
• Current certifications required: BLS and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrubs: any color accepted
• All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• RTO must be submitted at the time of consideration; minimal RTO is strongly preferred
