Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Alton, IL, requiring at least 1 year of acute care experience and active IL RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 24-bed Acute Medical Unit at a 222-bed hospital
• Patient population includes acutely ill adult and geriatric patients with general medical, surgical, or infectious disease diagnoses who may require telemetry monitoring for non-acute cardiac conditions
• Telemetry monitoring for non-acute cardiac conditions; excludes unstable GI bleeding, uncontrolled ischemic chest pain with unstable vital signs, continuous NPPV, and certain high-acuity medications (e.g., TNK, insulin drip, Neosynephrine, Nipride)
• Advanced medication infusions are within scope; titration increases are not permitted, but weaning/decreasing is allowed
• Average daily census of 16–18 patients with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio on nights
• Night shift: 7p–7:30a, 3x12-hour shifts, with both weekday and weekend shifts required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within service line and scope
• Epic EMR used (experience preferred)

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; pending IL license may be accepted — note status when applying
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred certification: Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
• Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, pre- and post-procedure evaluation and care, and neurological assessment and care for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and transient ischemic attack (TIA) patients
• Navy scrubs required

• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
