Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a high-volume medical center averaging 2,000 deliveries annually
- Unit includes 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
- Care for a mixed patient population including low-risk deliveries with certified nurse midwife support and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) totaling 48 hours per week
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Expected to cross-train to Mother/Baby and may float to NICU for feeder/grower patients
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Experience with fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns required
- Nursys verification required
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum management
- Perform newborn assessments and assist with circumcision site care
- Manage magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage care
- Circulate and recover for C-section procedures
- Perform triage of obstetrical patients
- Skilled in IV therapy and phlebotomy including starting and maintaining IVs
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
- Float within scope of practice as needed based on facility requirements
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any planned vacation between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date
- Candidates with prior UVA Health employment as permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
