Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Correctional Med/Surg position requiring at least 2 years of acute care and correctional experience, with mandatory floating across Cook County facilities.
Details
- Correctional facility setting in Cook County, Illinois
- Med/Surg unit within a correctional environment
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required
- No block scheduling accommodations available
- This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, potentially to units outside their primary area of competency
- Floating may occur to locations up to 50 miles from the home facility, with as little as 2 hours' notice before a shift
- Charting via Cerner
- Free parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required — pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
- Prior correctional nursing experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Proof of COVID vaccination required — no exceptions
Additional Information
- When floated outside of primary competency, a team-based care model is used for support
- RTO is limited to 5 days maximum per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
- RTO on weekends will not be approved
- No RTO on holidays or on the day immediately before or after a holiday
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Local candidates within a 75-mile radius of the facility are eligible to apply
