Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma Center in Arizona, requiring the ability to titrate cardiac drips and a pre-offer dysrhythmia exam.

- Acute care setting at a Level I Trauma Center in Chandler, AZ
- Assigned to the Telemetry Float Pool with floating required across multiple telemetry, MedSurg, ICU, cardiac tele, observation, and holding area units (including ER and Cath Lab areas)
- Floating may occur between two campuses located approximately 9 miles apart; campus and unit assignment is communicated 1.5 hours prior to shift start
- Observation floor is staffed first, followed by other units; mid-shift float to another unit is possible
- Patient ratios are 1:3–4 on telemetry units and 1:4 on MedSurg units
- Patient populations include post-cath lab, post-vascular, day 2 CABG, neuro/post-surgical, CVAs post-TPA, spine, general tele, ortho, surgical, and oncology patients
- Patients aged 15 and older; no pediatrics
- Titration of cardiac drips required, including Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine, and Cardizem
- Centralized telemetry monitoring; RNs must be able to interpret EKGs
- Charting system: Cerner
- 12-hour shifts, 7am–7pm or 7pm–7am (nights)
- 4 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per scheduling period required
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RT and pharmacy support available 24/7 across units
- PCTs available; ratio varies by unit
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) license currently in hand; pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications (all must be active, no pending accepted): BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Must be able to titrate cardiac drips
- Must be able to interpret EKGs
- Cerner EMR experience applicable to this role
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation; a maximum of 2 attempts are allowed, and failure results in a 6-month DNU status for the CommonSpirit AZ and Sacramento regions
- A pass/fail sterile technique simulation lab (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation; failure results in the same 6-month DNU status
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
- Navy scrubs required across all float pool units
- Floor-specific orientation of 2 days/shifts is provided on each unit
- Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; driver's license is used to verify permanent address
- Spectralink phones (with integrated call light) are used on MedSurg units
