Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Heart & Vascular Recovery (Cardiac Transitional Care) position in Saint Louis, MO, requiring 2+ years of cardiac stepdown or ICU experience and active MO or compact RN licensure.
Details
- 8-bed Heart & Vascular Recovery unit (Cardiac Transitional Care) within a Level 2 Trauma Center, Level 1 STEMI Center, and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Cares for pre- and post-procedural cardiac patients, including cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology (EP), vascular, and STEMI post-care patients
- Day shift, 3x12s, 0700–1930
- Patient ratios on days are approximately 1:4–1:5
- Equipment includes general cardiac monitoring and EKG
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Every other weekend required; exact scheduling depends on staffing needs
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to a similar or lower acuity unit as needed
- 13-week assignment in Saint Louis, MO
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri or a compact state license eligible for Missouri endorsement
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA only — no expiring certifications within the first 30 days of assignment unless renewal is documented
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac stepdown or ICU experience
- Cardiac rhythm proficiency and ability to identify cardiac emergencies
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, significant bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs
Additional Information
- Provides pre- and post-intervention nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for cardiac cath lab, EP, and vascular patients
- Experience with TR bands and sheath pulling is preferred
- Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments and maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with facility standards
- Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs and closed-toe shoes required
- Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be placed at a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this facility; after that, a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
