Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Surgical ICU night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of high-acuity ICU experience and the ability to manage complex patients including traumas, strokes, and STEMIs.
Details
- Work setting is a 24-bed Medical Surgical ICU within a hospital
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, trauma, stroke, and STEMI patients
- Typical patient ratio is 1:2, though ratios may adjust to 1:1 or 1:3 based on patient acuity and staffing
- Specialized procedures include titrating complex IV drips including vasopressors
- Equipment used includes IV pumps, chest tubes, GE monitoring, Arctic Sun, glucometers, and feeding pumps
- EMR is Epic
- Night shift schedule: 3x12, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekends required as determined by facility needs
- Holidays are on a rotating basis
- Standby call required for low census with a 1-hour report time
- Floating required to areas of clinical competence
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications (AHA only): BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a high-acuity ICU
- Demonstrated ability to titrate complex IV drips including vasopressors
- Experience caring for complex patients in a Level II trauma, STEMI, and stroke center environment preferred
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
- No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- No expiring certifications within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled
Additional Information
- This facility is a Level II Trauma Center, Level II Stroke Center, and Level II STEMI Center
- Flu vaccination is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; no declinations or exceptions are accepted
- Black scrubs are required; t-shirts and sweatshirts not approved by the facility are not permitted
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate compared to the posted travel rate
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this facility; after that, a minimum 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
