Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 3+ years of experience for a night shift travel assignment at a Level 1 trauma, tertiary teaching hospital in Portland, ME.

Details

  • Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • 26-week travel contract
  • Works across the entire facility as part of a team of 14–16 RRTs
  • Patient population is varied, including adult acute care, critical care, NICU, PICU, and ED
  • Patient ratios: 1:25 for acute care, 1:8 for critical care
  • Ventilators and equipment used: Dräger V500 and VN500, Hamilton T1 and C1, Respironics V30 and V60, Trilogy line, Airvo, and Vapotherm
  • EMR: Epic
  • Schedule includes working every other weekend
  • Call rotation required, approximately one call shift per month with a 2-hour call-in requirement for the oncoming shift
  • Floating required between NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, ED, and adult acute and critical care settings
  • Float policy includes travel between facilities within a 25-mile radius as needed

Requirements

  • RRT credential required
  • Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience
  • Experience in a tertiary, academic teaching hospital required
  • Level 1 trauma center experience required
  • Experience in NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, adult acute care, critical care, and ED required
  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred
  • NRP required for NICU assignments
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • 2 professional references required for consideration
  • License required if applicable

Additional Information

  • Preferred experience includes NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic respiratory care
  • Scrubs are provided or flexible
  • Only approved RTO documented in the contract is guaranteed; additional schedule requests, specific shifts, or time off outside of contractual RTO cannot be accommodated
  • Candidates residing within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility (including residents of Maine or New Hampshire) are considered local and may be subject to a different pay rate; local travelers are not eligible for renewals or extensions
  • Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this information
  • Use of AirPods, laptops, and cell phones on the unit is prohibited
  • Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish. Everything was explained clearly, and I always knew what the next step was, i never felt like i was left in the dark. One of my favorite things has been how communicative everyone is. Whether it’s my recruiter, Amanda, or Iranna from payroll, I always get a quick response when I have a question. It’s nice working with a team that actually follows up and keeps you in the loop. Amanda has been awesome throughout my assignment. She checks in regularly with a call or text just to see how things are going and make sure I don’t need anything. That level of support has really stood out to me. I’m rly happy I chose American Traveler for my first assignment, and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.
