Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Main Operating Room position requiring at least 2 years of Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience, OR circulator and scrub experience, and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Main OR setting within a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center hospital, also designated as a Level 2 Stroke Center
  • OR suite includes Main OR (22 rooms), ASC (8 rooms), and Ortho (10 rooms)
  • Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Equipment includes various surgical instruments and the da Vinci robotic surgery system
  • EMR: Epic
  • Day shift, 4x10 schedule, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • On-call required on any day scheduled, averaging 5 or fewer calls per 8-week period
  • Weekend hours required as determined by facility needs
  • Floating required as determined by facility needs
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active RN license — must be eligible for or currently hold Missouri licensure (MO or Compact license required)
  • Current BLS certification from AHA required
  • Minimum 2 years of Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience required (teaching hospital experience may be considered in lieu)
  • Both OR scrub and OR circulator experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of Interventional Vascular experience required
  • Competency in conscious sedation required
  • No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)

Additional Information

  • Assists vascular surgeons in the OR and Hybrid Imaging suite with endovascular and open cases
  • Works alongside a team of nurses and surgical techs
  • Utilizes the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
  • Black scrubs required; jeans and unprofessional attire are not permitted
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
  • Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
  • Candidates within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring either a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
  • Preferred candidates will have Level 1 trauma experience with multiple years in the specialty
