Description
American Traveler is hiring a Level III/IV RN for a Neonatal ICU position requiring OH or Compact RN license and extensive floating capability across multiple campuses and units.
Details
- Works in the Neonatal ICU (NICU) caring for neonates ranging from less than 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestational age, including infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) requiring extended stays of 2-3 years
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- 13-week assignment length
- Uses Epic charting system
- Required to float to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, medical-surgical units, and rarely to the ED
- Required to float to the BPD NICU with frequent trach care and heavy parent involvement
- Required to float to other campuses including OH Health Riverside, Mount Carmel St. Ann's, OH Health Grant Medical, OH Health Dublin Methodist, and OH Health Doctors Hospital
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license required in hand
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Level IV NICU experience required
- Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or supervisor (charge nurse references not accepted)
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, UAC/UVC care, and central line care
- Experience with neonatal dosage calculations and administration of emergency medications, vasopressors, antibiotics, and steroids
- Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and oscillators
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and seizure disorder management
- Experience attending high-risk deliveries and managing neonatal sepsis and respiratory distress syndrome
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurologic, and infectious disease management for neonatal patients
- Support high-risk deliveries and manage complex conditions such as necrotizing enterocolitis, gastroschisis/omphalocele, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Assist with procedures including lumbar punctures and ICP monitoring
- Floating to different units and campuses is a significant requirement and point of emphasis for this facility
- Candidates must not have worked in a permanent role for this health system within the past 2 years
- Local candidates are not permitted within a 60-mile radius of the facility
- Two-part interview process includes an initial screening with the Float Pool Leader followed by a possible second interview with the NICU unit manager
