Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with a minimum of 1 year of experience for a 13-week travel contract at a Level II Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center in Bangor, ME.
Details
- Work in a hospital-based Echocardiography department with 7 imaging rooms capable of accommodating Echo procedures
- Level II Trauma Center serving approximately two-thirds of the state of Maine, with air transport capabilities; also a Certified Stroke Center
- Adult inpatient and outpatient population
- Routine scans include structural heart studies, cardiac echos, TEEs, and stress tests
- Average daily caseload of 60–70 patients (inpatient and outpatient combined)
- Uses Philips equipment and Cerner EMR
- 40 hours per week on a variable schedule with 8 or 10 hour shifts
- Weekend rotation required, done in rotation with other staff
- Call rotation typically involves 1 night per week (on-call shifts are preferred-only)
- Holiday coverage is considered part of the weekend/call rotation (preferred only)
- Floating within the facility only
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer
- Current BLS and ARDMS certification required
- CCI-RCS certification preferred
- Compact or Maine state license required if applicable
- Two professional references within the past year required, with at least one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Director (Charge Nurse acceptable; peer references not accepted)
- Full SSN, Driver's License, and copies of all certifications required for consideration
- Flu vaccination required for clearance to start
- Candidate's permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility
- Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Supported by an Echo Supervisor, 6–9 additional sonographers, and 7 cardiologists on staff
- One week of orientation provided
- All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application and are subject to manager approval
- Teal scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- Medical exemptions for the flu vaccination requirement are accepted and subject to facility review; a minimum of 2 weeks must be allowed for the approval process
