Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position requiring a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and proficiency in a wide range of cardiac interventional procedures.
Details
- Work setting includes both diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab environments
- Patient population includes a range of cardiovascular diagnoses including CAD, stable/unstable angina, NSTEMI, STEMI, heart failure, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, pericardial disease, and pre-operative cardiac evaluations
- Patient ratio is 1:1
- Shift is days, 5x8 hours (06:45–15:15), Monday through Friday
- Occasional late days occur approximately 4–5 times per month, rarely extending past 17:00
- On-call required one day per week and every fifth weekend
- Floating required as needed
- No weekend requirements outside of on-call rotation
- Key procedures include PCI (balloon angioplasty and stent placement), left and right heart catheterization, PFO/ASD closure, IABP placement/removal, CTO, cardiogenic shock interventions, and vascular procedures including angioplasty and upper/lower extremity angiography
- Medications administered include antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics, procedural sedation agents, and reversal agents
- IV therapy includes blood product administration, IV infusion pumps, and IV starts
- Key equipment includes Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Roto, Ultrasound, Shockwave, ACIST, and the GE Mac Lab system
- EMR and unit systems include Epic (documentation), Pyxis (medications), and SBAR (communication)
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience in a cardiac cath lab setting required
- Proficiency in 12-lead EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
- Experience with ACT monitoring, cardioversion, sheath removal and monitoring, procedural sedation monitoring, and malignant hyperthermia protocols required
- Experience with Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided
- Orientation is 16 hours; weekly orientation schedule
- 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must be completed before the assignment begins and renewed annually
- Candidates must be available for an interview within 72 hours of consideration
- Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; RTO is not permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; additional RTO requires facility approval
- Candidates who have previously worked for Novant Health or New Hanover in any capacity (permanent, PRN, or EP) must have a minimum 12-month gap before being eligible to apply as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- Travel pairs are welcome, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
