Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN with a TN or compact license, ONS/ONCC chemo certification, and at least 2 years of current chemo/infusion experience for a day-shift outpatient oncology position.

Details

• Outpatient oncology and infusion center setting
• Provides chemotherapy and infusion care to oncology patients
• Day shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• No nights, weekends, holidays, or call required
• Primary location is Downtown Knoxville with floating required to five additional locations (Morristown, Sevierville, Lenoir City, Oak Ridge, and West Knoxville) based on staffing needs
• Cerner EMR experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required (may obtain after offer)
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification required
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current oncology/chemo-infusion nursing experience required
• Must be able to pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Certifications and licensure must not expire within 45 days of the start date
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, central line care, and PICC line care
• Experienced in chemotherapy administration, including IV push and oral routes, and management of cytotoxic spills
• Knowledgeable in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and extravasation injury
• Experienced in symptom management and psychosocial care for oncology patients

Additional Information

• Responsible for administering chemotherapy and biotherapy, managing ports and central lines, and monitoring for treatment-related complications
• Provides patient and family education and support, including advanced care planning discussions
• Cares for patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and others
• Floating is conducted in accordance with facility policy and staff clinical experience, with appropriate orientation provided to new units
• No time off will be accommodated during major holidays or surrounding holiday periods including Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Requested time off cannot occur within 14 days of the start date and cannot exceed 7 days
• Previous permanent staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months but may work at a different Covenant Health campus after 12 months
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the traveler rate
• Travel experience is required for consideration
