Description

American Traveler is hiring an Oncology RN for an outpatient infusion setting requiring chemotherapy/infusion experience and ONS/ONCC chemo certification.

Details

• Outpatient oncology and infusion center setting
• Day shift schedule, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (5x8-hour shifts)
• No nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call required
• Based at the Downtown Knoxville location with required floating to five other locations (Morristown, Sevierville, Lenoir City, Oak Ridge, and West Knoxville) based on staffing needs
• Cerner charting system experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• NIHSS certification required (may be obtained after offer)
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current oncology nursing experience required
• Chemotherapy/infusion administration experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, and central line/PICC line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy via IV push and oral routes
• Knowledge of oncologic emergency management including anaphylaxis, extravasation, and tumor lysis syndrome
• Experience caring for patients with various cancer types (breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and others)
• Certifications and licensure must be in hand at time of consideration and must not expire within 45 days of the start date

Additional Information

• Provide direct oncology nursing care including chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, symptom management, and patient/family education
• Monitor for and manage side effects and oncologic emergencies
• Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values to the care team
• Support psychosocial care needs including advanced directives and hospice discussions as applicable
• Floating assignments will comply with facility floating policies and provide appropriate orientation per Joint Commission standards
• Holiday time off will not be accommodated during a list of specified holiday periods throughout the assignment
• RTO requests for holidays may be addressed directly with the manager after arrival onsite
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced bill rate within 75 miles of the facility
• Previous perm staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months, but may return to a different Covenant Health campus after 12 months
• Related or married travel team members cannot be placed on the same unit
