Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in West Des Moines, IA, requiring 24 months of Med/Surg and orthopedic experience with active Epic EMR skills.

Details

• Hospital-based Med/Surg unit with 34 beds
• Patient population includes orthopedic and total joint replacement cases
• Cardiac-specific IV/intravenous push medications may be administered
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hrs/week
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Floating required across multiple campuses (Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist)
• Every other or every third weekend required depending on staffing and census
• No on-call responsibilities
• EMR: Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
• Current AHA or ARC BLS certification required
• Minimum 24 months of hospital Med/Surg experience required
• Orthopedic/rehab experience required
• Experience with total joint replacement and braces required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience administering cardiac-specific IV medications highly preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 24 months preferred for consideration

Additional Information

• Navy blue solid scrubs required
• Holiday rotation required — candidates must be available to work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
• Candidates who have been employed by this health system as FTE or PRN within the past 12 months are not eligible for this position
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a bill rate reduction
