Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ER Holding (Adult Admission Inpatient Unit) position at a Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, requiring telemetry interpretation skills and a NM or Compact RN license.

Details

• Fast-paced Adult Admission Inpatient Unit (AAU) functioning as an ER holding unit directly adjacent to the Emergency Department at a Level I Trauma, Children's, and Teaching Hospital
• Receives admitted patients from the Emergency Department and initiates inpatient standard of care until placement on one of 11 progressive care units
• Diverse patient population spanning all specialties except ICU-level acuity
• Unit has 17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds with a 1:4–5 RN-to-patient ratio
• Frequent patient turnover with high volume of admissions and transfers
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias required throughout the shift
• Float requirement includes adjacent ED area for admitted patients, ICU for sub-acute care (SAC) assignments, and inpatient PCU areas
• Charting performed in Cerner
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Block scheduling will be considered

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — RQI certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and dysrhythmia management
• Ability to manage a variety of medical equipment
• Strong time management skills essential for handling high patient turnover
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Relief charge nurse duties may be required as needed
• Scrubs must be black and are not provided by the facility

• RTO exceeding 7 days requires approval; all scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the 1-year mark at this facility must take a 6-month break before returning
