Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a travel contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, with on-call requirements and experience in orthopedics, general surgery, trauma, and/or plastics.
Details
- Setting: Short-term acute care hospital; Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated teaching hospital with 1,273 staffed beds
- Unit: Operating Room
- Specialties include general surgery, orthopedics, ortho trauma, and/or plastics
- Day shifts, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30am–7:00pm
- 4–6 call shifts per 6-week period; weekday call hours are 7:00pm–7:00am, weekend call hours span both day and night (7:00am–7:00pm and 7:00pm–7:00am)
- On-call response time required within 45 minutes; call hours and start times may adjust based on staffing needs
- If worked on call past midnight, up to 8 hours of rest time is provided before potential recall for shift relief, lunches, or breaks
- Floating within service line to other ORs for staffing and census needs
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Charting system: Epic (experience required)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required; IL candidates may apply with a pending IL license
- Certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
- Scrubbing preferred; circulating required
- Proficiency in general surgery, orthopedics, ortho trauma, and/or plastics required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered with 3+ years of OR experience and strong orthopedics background
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- No block scheduling available
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required before returning
- Parking is available at $15/day or $70/month
