Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring Epic proficiency and a GA or compact RN license, with night shifts in an adult-to-geriatric inpatient setting.
Details
- Cardiac Telemetry unit in a hospital setting caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Patient conditions include post-MI, heart failure, arrhythmias, chest pain, peripheral vascular disease, and peritoneal dialysis
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 on a 16-bed unit with an average daily census of 16
- Procedures and monitoring include telemetry, EKG, and Doppler
- Epic EMR experience required; Pyxis and SBAR communication framework also used
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Charge nurse experience strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum of 7 days for the contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of assignment
- RTO blackout dates apply for Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two of them and may request one holiday off for approval
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as one)
- Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- No alternate shift or special scheduling requests are permitted; the posted night shift is firm
- Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time to avoid a two-week pushback due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule
