Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a Level I Trauma Center position requiring TNCC, ACLS, PALS, and a minimum of 2 years of ER experience.

Details

  • Emergency Department setting at a Level I Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department
  • Patient population includes trauma, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric emergency cases
  • Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6, with the potential to reach 1:8 during high-volume periods and holidays
  • Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
  • Weekend requirement: 3 weekends (Fri–Sun) per 4-week schedule, with 1–3 days worked per weekend
  • Floating to Pediatric Emergency Department is possible
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic EMR used; training provided during orientation

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required (compact licenses are not accepted; must be active by start date)
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA preferred), PALS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale — all must be active and not pending at contract start
  • ENPC certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include emergency nursing care across a high-acuity, multi-specialty emergency department including trauma, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric cases
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration is preferred
  • Triage experience is preferred
  • Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed prior to the contract start date
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
  • Former core staff members must wait 12 months before returning; eligibility should be verified prior to consideration
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
  • RTO must be submitted at the time of application; no additional RTO will be approved after submission, and no RTO is permitted during the month of July
  • Maximum of 5 days RTO per assignment
