Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry experience, Epic proficiency, and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting caring for adult to geriatric patients
  • Patient diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, and PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Patient ratio of 1:4–5 across a 36-room unit with an average daily census of 35
  • EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
  • Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Telemetry/PCU experience required
  • Epic proficiency required

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • RTO is capped at 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
  • Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review — Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a travel nurse
  • No scheduling change requests or alternate shift requests are accepted; the posted shift is firm
  • Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
  • Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
