Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry experience, Epic proficiency, and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting caring for adult to geriatric patients
- Patient diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, and PE/DVT/vascular issues
- Patient ratio of 1:4–5 across a 36-room unit with an average daily census of 35
- EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
- Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Telemetry/PCU experience required
- Epic proficiency required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review — Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a travel nurse
- No scheduling change requests or alternate shift requests are accepted; the posted shift is firm
- Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
