Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Trauma Level III teaching hospital in North Carolina, requiring a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac devices and invasive lines.
Details
- Work in a 14-bed CVICU with private rooms, including two negative pressure rooms, at a 457-bed Trauma Level III teaching hospital
- Patient population includes STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, thoracic surgery, and CT surgery cases (CABG, valve repair, aortic dissection)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Manages vasoactive medications, surgical drains, chest tubes, ventilators, and CRRT
- Experience with invasive lines including arterial lines, PA catheters, and transvenous pacemakers required; experience with invasive devices including IABP and Impella strongly preferred
- EMR: Epic; IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating may be required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division) based on need
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active RN license — NC or compact state license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency with vasoactive medications, ventilator management, CRRT, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Experience with invasive devices such as IABP and Impella strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Hospital is a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Unit support includes a charge nurse (may or may not carry a patient assignment), an IV/VAT team, RT available 24/7, and an intensivist on-site 24/7
- Orientation includes general facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- A clinical interview is required for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered
- Former permanent employees of any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
