Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Intermediate Care position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active IL licensure.

Details

  • IMC (Intermediate Care/Step-down) unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
  • Average daily census of 38 patients
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hours (18:45–07:15)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to like units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Charting via Cerner (experience required)

Requirements

  • Active Illinois (IL) RN license required — pending licensure not accepted
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Step-down setting required
  • Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring
  • Cardiovascular case experience required: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR Band
  • IV therapy skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, peripheral line care, starting IVs
  • Medication management skills required: Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management with and without titration, PCA
  • Respiratory skills required: Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable O2, non-invasive airway management
  • Additional required skills: CVA care, surgical drain management, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO of up to 5 days is ideally requested; anything beyond 5 days requires facility approval
  • 13-week contract (approximately 91 days)
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred; Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Scrubs: any solid color permitted
  • Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
