Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU (Progressive Care Unit) travel assignment requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- 30-bed private-room Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital setting
- Rooms are remotely monitored by a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
- Primary patient population includes cardiac diagnoses such as CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization with and without intervention, rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
- Secondary patient population includes respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP-dependent patients
- Patient ratios are 1:4 for patients on drips or BiPAP, and 1:5 for the general patient population
- Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Staff are scheduled on a 6-week self-assisted schedule through Optilink, distributed based on departmental need, patient acuity, skill mix, and previous assignments
- Weekend rotation required; holiday coverage as needed
- Nurse assistants available 24/7; RN secretary coverage from 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Cardiac PCU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
- Required clinical skills include: peripheral and PICC line care and management, pre/post cardiac cath care, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (including titration), procedural sedation administration, chest tube management (Emerson and Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred
- Must be comfortable with 1:5 patient ratios
- A copy of a valid driver's license and two professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- All RNs are required to pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during compliance, regardless of specialty — two attempts are allowed; study materials will not be provided by the facility, so candidates should prepare in advance
- The facility has a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
