Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an HCA hospital in Kentucky, requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience and an active KY or compact RN license.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit located on the second floor of a main hospital building
- Unit consists of 7 L&D beds, 14 Mother/Baby beds, and a Level 2 NICU/Newborn Nursery
- Day shift staffing includes 6–8 RNs, 1 OB technician, and 1 unit clerk; night shift includes 5–8 RNs, 1 OB technician, and 1 unit clerk
- Patient ratios: L&D 2:1, Mother/Baby 6–8:1, NICU 1–4:1 (acuity-dependent)
- Procedures include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, induction of labor (Cook catheter, Cervidil, oxytocin), IUFD, IV insertion, lab draws, sterile vaginal exams, epidural assistance, and Foley catheter insertion
- Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, Corometrics 250 series fetal monitor, Monica monitor, and Ranger fluid warmer
- EMR systems: Meditech Expanse and CPN (Centricity Perinatal)
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend requirement (Friday and Saturday nights)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active KY or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics card), and AWHONN fetal monitoring (intermediate or advanced level, or NCCEFM)
- Minimum 3 years of L&D experience required
- Must be able to circulate for cesarean sections
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history totaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- All certifications must remain valid for at least 30 days beyond the contract start date
Additional Information
- Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Scrubs are provided by the facility for infant security purposes
- 5+ years of L&D experience is preferred and will be prioritized during candidate review
- Collaborative team environment — candidates with a team-player mindset are the best fit for this unit
