Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Oncology unit position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma acute care hospital, requiring at least 1 year of oncology experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Oncology unit in a 562-bed Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma acute care hospital
  • Average daily census of 24 patients across 24 beds
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:15 AM – 6:45 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting via Cerner
  • Free parking with a permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
  • Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience required
  • Active BLS required; AHA and Red Cross accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
  • Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
  • Required chemotherapy skills: administration (IV push, continuous infusion, oral), body fluid handling post-chemo, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, and monitoring chemotherapy and abnormal lab values
  • Required IV/infusion skills: accessing and managing ports, central line blood draws, central line/implanted line care, PICC line care, starting IVs, and administering blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • All required licenses and certifications must be active at time of consideration

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
  • Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Scrub color: any solid color

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish. Everything was explained clearly, and I always knew what the next step was, i never felt like i was left in the dark. One of my favorite things has been how communicative everyone is. Whether it’s my recruiter, Amanda, or Iranna from payroll, I always get a quick response when I have a question. It’s nice working with a team that actually follows up and keeps you in the loop. Amanda has been awesome throughout my assignment. She checks in regularly with a call or text just to see how things are going and make sure I don’t need anything. That level of support has really stood out to me. I’m rly happy I chose American Traveler for my first assignment, and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.
