Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Oncology unit position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma acute care hospital, requiring at least 1 year of oncology experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Oncology unit in a 562-bed Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma acute care hospital
- Average daily census of 24 patients across 24 beds
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:15 AM – 6:45 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
- No on-call requirements
- Charting via Cerner
- Free parking with a permit obtained during orientation
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience required
- Active BLS required; AHA and Red Cross accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
- Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
- Required chemotherapy skills: administration (IV push, continuous infusion, oral), body fluid handling post-chemo, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, and monitoring chemotherapy and abnormal lab values
- Required IV/infusion skills: accessing and managing ports, central line blood draws, central line/implanted line care, PICC line care, starting IVs, and administering blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- All required licenses and certifications must be active at time of consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Scrub color: any solid color
